In June 2008, Aragon High School's Orchestra, Choir, and Band ensembles, consisted of 145 students and 52 parents and techers, paid their visit to beautiful Beijing and Tianjin China. All the music students performed several concerts, including performances in Beijing University, the Great Wall of China, and the Secondary School attached to the China Conservatory of Music. For this music trip, Aragon prepared Beijing Overture ( Orchestra) and Antiphonies ( Band) for its special performances and were well recognized by Chinese students, educators, and audience.
. During the 10-day stay in China, all participants visited famous sceneries and attraction sites, such as the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and 2008 Olympics Game sites. Besides preparing for each performance, all students and music directors also enriched their knowledge about Chinese culture and history. They were also amazed by the traditional Chinese Acrobatic and Kung Fu shows.
Mr. David Martin, the director of Aragon's Choir and Orchestra, and Troy Davis, the director of the Band, successfully conducted 4 performances in total and also had a chance to interview with CCTV. All their performances and daily activities have been recorded by Tianjiao and will be released for public use in the future. |
