Day 3 Beijing

July 17 (Saturday) Highlight

Olympic Games Sites, Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City, Chinese Kung Fu Show (Optional)

Activities

Enjoy full buffet breakfast in the hotel to start the day followed by a visit to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Sites. A guided visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City where the last three dynasties of China ruled. In the evening, enjoy a night city tour or an optional dramatic Chinese Kung Fu show.

Day 4 Beijing

July 18 (Sunday) Highlight

Jade Factory, The Great Wall of China, Beijing Roasted Duck Banquet

Activities

Begin the day with a visit to the biggest jade factory in Beijing after breakfast. Visit the Great Wall of China and enjoy your leisure time exploring one of the great wonders of the world in the afternoon! A feast of Beijing Roasted Duck banquet will be arranged in the evening.

July 19 (Monday) Highlight

The 4 th Session of Sino-Canada International Education Forum

Activities

This will be a special day for everyone. The forum will bring together Canadian, American, and Chinese educators, offering participants an opportunity to learn about each other’s educational systems and practices. You can do some preparations for the forum or enjoy a relaxing morning at the hotel. The forum will take place in the afternoon.

Day 6 Beijing

July 20 (Tuesday)
Highlight

Visit the Capital Museum of China, Pearl Farm, School Visit, Calligraphy Lessons, acrobatic show (Optional)

Activities

Visit the Capital Museum of China in the morning followed by a visit to Pearl Farm. After lunch, visit a well-known public school. During the visit, you will exchange teaching skills and discuss several topics regarding to the differences between Canadian and Chinese education system. You will also have the precious opportunity to learn the authentic Chinese calligraphy from calligraphy masters. Free time or an acrobatic show will follow dinner (optional).

Day 7 Beijing

July 21 (Wednesday)
Highlight

Tai Chi Lesson, Traditional Tea Ceremony, Rickshaw Hutong tour, Lunch in Local Family

Activities

Learn traditional Tai Chi to start the day in the beautiful hotel garden to gain some Yin and Yang energy under the instruction of Tai Chi masters followed by a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. Enjoy an exciting rickshaw tour of Hutong, an important cultural element of the ancient Beijing city. As part of the tour, enjoy homemade lunch with a local family. Free time for you to walk around and shop in the afternoon.

Day 8 Beijing

July 22 (Thursday) Highlight

Temple of Heaven, Lama (Yonghe) Temple, Guozijian ( Imperial Academy)

Activities

Begin the day with a visit to the Temple of Heaven, also known as the Altar of Heaven constructed over 600 years. Later on, visit the Lama Temple, which is one of the largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the world. In the afternoon, you will visit Guozijian, the Imperial College during Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. It is also the site of the Confucius Temple.

July 23 (Thursday) Highlight

Free day for your own choices

Activities

This will be a great day for you to do some interesting things on your own. There are many places ready for you to explore, such as the Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, and shopping markets where you can get additional souvenirs.

Day 10 Beijing –Xi'an

July 24 (Saturday) Highlight

Depart for Xi’an, guided city bus-tour, Ancient City Wall, Tang Dynasty Music & Dance Show (Optional)

Activities

Depart for Xi’an by a domestic flight from Beijing International Airport. Xi’an is one of the oldest cities in Chinese history. Upon Arrival, a chartered bus will take you to the hotel and check-in followed by a guided bus tour of this city and a visit to the Ancient City Wall. Additional free time or an option of Tang Dynasty Music & Dancing Show in the evening will surely add more beautiful memories to your visit of Xi’an.

Day 11 Xi'an

July 25 (Sunday) Highlight

Site of Terra-Cotta Warriors, Silk Factory, Shanxi Provincial Museum

Activities

Begin the day with a visit to the sites of Terra Cotta Warriors, which acclaimed as the ‘Eighth Wonder of The World’ that will amaze every tourist who sees it. Pay a visit a traditional silk factory. In the afternoon, a guided city tour of Xi’an and visit to the Shanxi Provincial Museum.

Day 12 Xi'an

July 26 (Monday) Highlight

Antique Furniture Store, Xi’an Muslim Street

 

Activities

Visiting one of the most famous antique furniture stores in China will definitely offer you a great opportunity to understand Chinese history and culture. You will also visit the Xi’an Muslim Street, which is a fantastic place to wonder. Additional free time will be arranged for you to explore this ancient capital city.

Day 13 Xi’an – Xining – Tibet

July 27 (Tuesday) Highlight

Depart for Xining, Tibetan Medicine Museum of China, City Tour, Depart for Tibet

Activities

Depart for Xining after breakfast. Upon Arrival, a chartered bus will take you to the hotel and check-in. Later on, visit the Tibetan Medicine Museum of China, which is the only museum of this kind in China that reflects Tibetan life. After dinner, you will board the night train to Lhasa.

Day 14 Tibet

July 28 (Wednesday) Highlight

Arrive in Lhasa, Tibet

Activities

During the day, you will enjoy the magnificent views of snow mountains, spectacular views of nature, wild animals, and warm atmosphere on the train. This link from Xining to Lhasa is the world’s longest plateau railroad. About 550 km of the tracks run over frozen earth. Upon arrival in the evening, a chartered bus will take you to the hotel and check-in.

Day 15 Tibet

July 29 (Thursday) Highlight

Tibetan Buddhism Lecture, Potala Palace, Tibetan Carpet Factory, Welcome Dinner

Activities

A lecture of Tibetan Buddhism from a professor of Tibet University will be arranged to give you some knowledge of Tibet before an exciting visit to the Potala Palace – former living quarters Dalai Lama and is one of the most well-preserved palaces in the world. Later on, visit a traditional Tibetan carpet factory.

Day 16 Tibet

July 30 (Friday) Highlight

A Visit to Suburb Village of Tibet, Tibetan Medicine Factory, Sera Monastery

Activities

This is the day you will be invited to know the real life of the Tibetan people. During the visit to the suburb village, you will be greeted by Hada and Tibetan Butter Tea followed by family visit. In the afternoon, visit one of the biggest Tibetan medicine factories followed by a visit to Sera Monastery, one of the ‘Great Three’ Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet.

Day 17 Tibet

July 31 (Saturday) Highlight

School Visit and Book Donations, Barkhor Street

Activities

Visiting a local school and donating books are one of the highlights of this trip. During the visit, you will communicate with local teachers to exchange your great teaching ideas and practices. After lunch, you will visit Jokang Temple and the Barkhor Street.

Day 18 Tibet - Shanghai

August 1 (Sunday) Highlight

Day 19 Shanghai

The Bund, Chenghuangmiao Market, Huangpu River Dinner Cruise (Optional)

Activities

Visit the Bund, which stretches one mile along the bank of Huangpu River and is featured with various architectural styles such as Gothic and Renaissance. Later, visit one of the most popular local markets - Chenghuangmiao Market and free time will be arranged in the afternoon followed by a Huangpu River Dinner Cruise (optional).
